The founders of Quiet Cricket Studio reached out seeking a visual identity and website to launch their new partnership. The studio space reflects the ethos of the founders—warm, welcoming and unique; any visual communication needed to do the same. This ethos is not only genuinely lived but a differentiator in a field where visuals tend to skew dark and cold.

Design Process

For inspiration we explored sound (vibration, equipment), nature (crickets, ambient sound), tensions (quiet/loud volume) and the associated letterforms (q, c).

Three initial ideas were presented in black and white to focus on the merit of each concept. These included a “q” taking the form of sound equipment, a vibrating “C”, and a line drawing of a cricket with headphones.

We selected the third concept and spent the subsequent weeks refining and working through the color palette and typography.

Solution

A simple line drawing with flexible visual elements speaks to the studio name and expertise. The friendly wordmark can stand alone or within the asymmetrical circle. The bold yet not primary color palette is warm and versatile.

The identity came to life through business cards, pelican case stickers and a Squarespace website. With little navigation the website relies on a long scrolling homepage to showcase the space, work samples, service offerings and most importantly, ways to connect.
